Now by no means am I insinuating that Brown makes any type of mainstream or overly commercial music, and his latest visual for his track “Flava,” produced by Sir Illington, is a soulful and no pun intended, but truly flavorful tune that both inspires and fortifies the soul while also giving you an intriguing look visually into Nashville’s raping and all-consuming gentrification that is chewing up the old side of East Nashville locally referred to as “Out East” that has traded in affordable housing and section-8 homes for condos and hipsters which have done wonders for Nashville’s bottom line and has led to it becoming the fastest growing city in all of the south, but at the cost of these neighborhoods being lost to capitalism and greed forever. ![]() Since releasing his highly-anticipated and much-awaited project Journey a few months ago, Nashville rapper Brian Brown has been continually reaping the new benefits that come with him being the latest artist to captivate the majority of the city’s attention and it is beginning to look like he might be able to be the first artist since Starlito over a decade ago to push through to the mainstream as a Nashville artist.
